Getting in tune
I decided to name this blog post after one of my favorite songs on one of my favorite albums. For those unfamiliar with the song, it’s also called “Getting in Tune,” it’s by The Who, and it’s from their seminal album called “Who’s Next.” I highly recommend this album. Originally, I planned to call this blog post “It’s all about the vibration.” In reality, the two titles share a similar sentiment: your life is composed of experiences so heavily influenced by energy vibration, and whether you are in tune at that moment.
Getting in tune– This is a lifelong process that never ends, but is so worth the effort. We all have experienced those times that we seem to be in sync with our surroundings- we can almost feel what’s going to happen next. That’s what being in tune with yourself is all about. Unfortunately for most of us, those experiences are quite limited. Our society encourages and pressures many people to have daily experiences filled with rushed moments, and to counter those experiences with various distractions, or drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. Being on this cycle promotes anything but being in tune with yourself. So what can we do to promote being in tune and avoid this predicament?
Pause. It’s as simple as that. Take time out every day to just do nothing and let your mind and spirit soar. Don’t even think about being productive at this time. I highly recommend a daily practice of meditation. It can start out with as little as ten minutes a day. There are many books and health clubs that offer instruction on meditation.
Take yoga. If you really want to hit a home run, you can also start a yoga practice. The combination of meditation and yoga is almost unbeatable for getting you to slow down, and open up to your dreams and possibilities that all your busyness has obscured. I have taken many forms of yoga and find that kundalini yoga, a bit under the radar, is the most powerful. Try it and see.
Surround yourself with natural beauty. There is nothing more powerful in this world than immersing yourself in the beauty of nature. And the benefits of doing this are so multi-dimensional. Besides the obvious sensual pleasure of being surrounded by something beautiful, your whole perspective shifts, since you are forced to acknowledge that positive elements do exist, and life is not the cynical race to nowhere that many suggest that it is. This energy shift can open up all kinds of great possibilities in your life, and encourage you to take the chances necessary to make those dreams happen.
Watch less television. I once had a Russian friend come into my apartment, look at my television, and proclaim “ this is the source of all propaganda!” I wasn’t quite sure what he meant at the time, but I am coming to understand that he was right, especially these days. Apart from a few programs of value, most shows are mindless, and designed for distraction. And commercials are heavily weighted to things you don’t need or want, or drug commercials designed to make you wonder whether you have the described ailment- a not so subtle form of suggestion and manipulation that borders on the evil.
It’s all about the vibration– This is not some wacky new age concept. It’s actually a fact and proved scientifically by quantum physics: everything is composed of atoms that are constantly moving, giving off an energy vibration. And we as human beings have our own energy vibration which accounts for so many things: such as who we like or love, who we get along with, who we work with, and just about every human interaction. When we are in love with another person, it is usually because we are vibrating at the same energy level as that person. When people drift apart, it is usually because their energy shifts, and they are no longer on the same wavelength.
There is not a person reading this blog who has not walked into a house or restaurant, and uttered the following: “I like(or don’t like) the vibe here. That “vibe” that we talk about is actually the energy frequency or vibration of that place or thing.
When we are more in tune with ourselves (see above), we can more easily pick up the energy vibration(vibe) of another person, place or thing. We thus have more information at our disposal, other than the obvious physical characteristics(some might say the illusion) by which to make a decision, and this is a very good thing.
When we are in tune with ourselves, we can automatically tune in to other people. A great philosopher once said (Socrates I think), “know thyself.” This is great advice, because only when you know yourself, can you fully appreciate and know another human being.
There is an emerging vanguard of medicine called “Vibrational Medicine,” which looks at the subtle ethereal energy fields affecting health; ethereal meaning something like the layers of energy that surround each of us. It is a fascinating new field and for those interested, I recommend the book “Vibrational Medicine” by Richard Gerber MD.
I am totally fascinated with how energy affects our life, and am constantly learning more things that convince me of its importance. Getting in tune with ourselves, and staying there, seems to be the first step to experiencing the importance of energy vibration in our daily life.
