Send it to the clouds
If you have an I-phone(and who doesn’t these days), you are familiar with the ability to send and store certain information by “sending it to the I-cloud.”
So much of technology today is mind blowing, and I accept and use it without having the slightest idea how it works. One of my favorite bits of high tech is the ability to make phone calls by talking into the steering wheel of my car- this never ceases to amaze and titillate me- of course I have no idea how that works too!
But I digress…… I really like the concept of storing certain information “in the clouds.” And I have recently used that concept metaphorically to deal with some very challenging life issues. When I think of these unresolved situations and my mind starts to race or gets overloaded, this is what pops into my head as a great salvation: “send it to the clouds.”
Here’s what I mean by this: I have come to the conclusion that our minds perceive such a small fraction of what is really going on, no matter how insightful or intelligent we think we are. Since this is the case, it would be nice to defer to a larger and more inclusive source of information to take care of these dicey life issues. Now you and I can, just “send it to the clouds.”
Send it to the clouds means letting go, completely detaching, not thinking about it, and letting the wisdom of the universe sort the mess out. Of course, before you can let go like this, you have to believe that the universe is all knowing and much better equipped than our limited minds to deal with the most challenging situations. I do have this belief system developed over time, so it is increasingly easy for me to do just this, and “send it to the clouds.” Another metaphor for this letting go, one that I read in a Zen-Buddhist book and has always stuck with me, is “let Buddha take care of the tracks.” This means when you are riding on the tracks of life, you don’t have to be concerned about who or what is actually supporting those tracks, just ride along with the flow.
