Time on your side
Time is such a tricky subject, especially these days when there is the perception out there that there is “not enough” time. As with everything in life, one’s belief system controls how you view the experience. In a way, the way you view time is similar to the way that you view abundance. If you believe that there is more than enough wealth out there for not just you but for everyone else, than your behavior is so affected: you can be generous with others knowing that you are well taken care of, you don’t have to milk every opportunity because you know that there are more to come, and you can just be more relaxed about the flow of money.
So it is with time. If you believe that time is limitless on a certain level, than you don’t have to worry that you are missing out on anything because there will be other occasions to experience the same or even better things. Also, you can be so much more relaxed in any situation, you don’t have to rush through things, and rushing, if you embrace it, is definitely one of the banes of the modern life experience.
That sounds great, but how do you get to the point where you believe that time is limitless? Here are five steps to help reach that goal:
1.Relax- that’s right, just relax. Begin to believe that there is value in savoring life’s experiences.
2.Appreciate connectivity, or oneness. Think about how all people and events are connected by energy, and practice this. The importance of any one activity or person will recede in your mind, giving you permission to enjoy who you are with, and what you are doing.
3.Question the linear nature of time. Most people are conditioned to believe that time moves in a linear fashion, but there is increasing evidence to the contrary. It is possible that the past, present, and future exists right now on a certain energy level. Consider this: it is probable that each of you thought about past events, and by those thoughts brought you right back to re-experiencing them; and it is also probable that you have anticipated some future event right in the present. This suggests that time is malleable, and that events of the past, present, and future exist as energy waves that you can tap into now.
4. Live in the moment. This frequently hyped up slogan of new age speak has lots of real merit, if you can do it. It is best achieved by really savoring who you are and what you are doing in this moment, with no worries about the future or the past. This is a huge undertaking, so applaud yourself for your effort.
5. Rethink satisfaction. Many people have been conditioned to associate satisfaction with the achievement of certain goals at designated times. Why not tweak what makes you satisfied? In my case, I have made a conscious effort to give loving energy to everyone and everything that crosses my path. By gradually making this energy shift, I have opened up whole new sources of satisfaction, thus expanding my notion of time.
