EMBRACE THE POLARITIES
Are you shocked by the behavior of people in this world today…..your friends, lovers, politicians, even strangers? Don’t be.
As part of the changing landscape we live in, it’s now important to look at people’s behavior (including our own) in a whole new light.
You and I were taught to be shocked by certain behavior or statements, but I suggest that being shocked is a relic of the past, and serves absolutely no purpose. What do I mean? If you subscribe to the theory that we come to earth to experience a wide range of emotions, it all begins to make sense. And you also have to embrace the idea that everyone is playing out their roles in life perfectly…..even if you find what they are doing personally abhorrent. I know…that’s a hard thing to accept, and it has taken me a long time to get there.(still working on it, actually).
Let’s examine the alternatives to this new mindset: Being shocked by the headlines around the world and feeling like the world is going to hell. It is not, btw. It is just filled with people acting out the roles they were meant to play. I don’t like some of those roles, but I try to see it as just that, roles they were meant to play.
You and I are spiritual beings having a temporary human experience in the body, and the only reason for our spirit to “take a body” (i.e. be born) is to have the wide range of emotions and experiences that an earthly existence allows. Otherwise, why be here? I am in no way rationalizing or excusing anyone’s behavior; I’m just trying to make some sense of it all, and find a way to be at peace. Think of it this way: If you could never be offended by anyone’s comments or behavior, wouldn’t that make your life so much more pleasant? As I see it, the only way to pull that off with some success is to shift your perspective on what all this behavior really means.
If you spend your time reeling from nasty comments or behavior going on around you, haven’t you wasted your time? What if the only reason these things are happening around you is so you can experience them, and know what they are like, not be offended, or think the world is collapsing. This is a huge shift from how you were taught to respond to these events. What do you think about it?
