The Best is Yet to Come
You know the Frank Sinatra tune of that name…I hope.
Yes, folks, this column is inspired by that. Here’s to you Frankie, and while we’re at it-here’s to you Mrs. Robinson, wherever you are!
My indulgences should be forgiven by all, because if there is anything we all need at this moment, it is a connection to a joyous and less contentious past. Amen.
It is unfortunate that so much ugliness of all kinds has been pumped into the atmosphere that we call our society, or our culture. It is almost impossible to not absorb some of that, but with great effort, that negativity won’t leave a mark, or impinge on our basic right to enjoy every moment of our lives. And for just a little while, forget about the number of followers you have on twitter, or “friends” on Facebook, or connections on Linkedin. Simply enjoy what life has to offer.
The Best is Yet to Come, for at least the following reasons:
1. It’s fall and you should take a hike. The leaves are beginning to turn, the weather is still mild, and you should get out in nature and enjoy its splendor. Period.
2. Spend time with someone outside of the electronic grid. You know who I mean, your aunt or grandma/ some neighbor up the road who survived a real crisis (like WW2 or Korean war) and see what they have to say. You might be surprised as to their take on the current dramas, and you might actually learn something.
3. Surround yourself with actual beauty. Go see some beautiful art, buy something special for yourself that you love, and appreciate it, move to a beautiful home, do something for your body that makes you joyful, listen to beautiful music when you wake up every day!
4. Take a trip to parts unknown. There is nothing like a voyage to new horizons to wake you up, get you out of your comfort zone, and see how the other half lives! The trip can be short or long, it doesn’t really matter.
5. Fall in love. There has never been a better time to be in love…haha. Better yet, take that loved one to Paris for a long weekend…
Like I said, The Best is Yet to Come…
