Out From Under the Matrix
Are you living under a matrix? Has your life been controlled by conditioning imposed by parents, teachers, society?
You bet, unless you were raised on a secluded monastery in Tibet…haha. Your every thought, motivation, and action was dictated by one or more of those controlling agents. And you are walking proof of how effective and complete that conditioning and matrix can be.
What do you want to do about it? If you are content with this dynamic and receive abundant satisfaction, read no further! But if you feel that parts of the matrix imposed on you don’t resonate with you, or have caused damage, then you need to tweak the parts that don’t work.
Here’s what you can do:
1. Make a list of the strongest goals you hope for in the next year.
2. Meditate on those goals for a few days and let them really expand within you. Don’t rush this.
3. Which of those goals really feel authentic to you, and which of those goals feel imposed from outside?
4. Be gentle with yourself as you discard those things that don’t resonate with you.
5. Project gratitude on the people who may have tried to impose these things on you; they were only doing the best they could at that moment.
Start a journal to document how it feels to remove these unwanted influences on your life. When you feel yourself falling back into unwanted patterns, you can reference your experiences.
