FINDING YOUR FOOTING

 

It’s been a rocky ride…..and the recent election only underscores how rapidly things can change. I’ve been thinking about this for awhile, even before the election. For some time, I have detected a general uneasiness in the population, so in retrospect, the election should not have been such a huge surprise. Nevertheless, for those who live in “educated” areas, like almost all the major cities in the US, and for those who live on the east and west coasts, the election was a shock. It seems that overnight almost, there is a new world order.

How should one respond consciously to this change?  Here are some thoughts as I struggle myself to understand this all, and to gain some detachment.

 

1. One thing is for sure: you can’t assume anything anymore. Life has always been fluid, and no one person has a crystal ball, but in the times we are living in, expectations that might have been reasonable just five years ago hold little validity today.
2. Totally accept the reality of what happened, and learn to love it. This may seem extreme and hard to fathom, but acceptance and love are very powerful forces that will, with practice and effort, bring tranquility to you.
3. Re-visit the concept of oneness. There is an emerging world consciousness that we are all one spiritual entity, and that all the apparent strife, all the apparent wars, all the apparent divisiveness, is just an illusion of sorts. Don’t get me wrong: these things do exist in some form, but they exist on a very low level of consciousness. As you rise up in your own consciousness, these forces have less and less power over you, until they almost disappear entirely.
4. Visit one of the red states, immerse yourself in the local culture, and try and understand the values and needs of the people. You may be very surprised at what you find.
5. Consider the “ying and yang effect.” We have had a left leaning federal government for the last eight years, and now we have the opposite. Be open to the possibility that something good can occur and be learned from this change. Look at it like this:  everyone gets his turn at bat.
