HEAVEN OR HELL- IT’S YOUR CHOICE
It’s easy to get caught up in all the swirling events around you. It’s easy to label things too, as good or bad, tragic or fortuitous. But what happens if you throw the need away to label anything? What happens if you just watch the events around you, rather than react or be impacted so deeply? What happen is that you choose consciously to live in heaven, rather than hell. And in the world that we are living in, that’s a choice that brings freedom, peace of mind, and balance.
So why is this triumvirate (freedom, peace of mind, and balance) so hard to achieve?
1. Many humans are too wrapped up in the mind, and “logic.”The mind is a wonderful thing, but very often it takes over the whole human entity. That’s not so good when all those circling thoughts and fears kick in. It’s best to keep the mind on a short leash: use it when necessary to actually accomplish a definite task, but put it in rest mode other times. By the way, this is a lot easier to say than to do, but so worth the effort.
2. The common consciousness. Things that almost everyone believes to be true are actually not – sometimes they are lies deliberately circulated for control (by institutions, companies, religious groups), or sometimes they are just erroneous belief systems that, in practice, end up causing grief to people. It’s a process to discard them, but also, brings huge benefits.
3. It’s hard to find authentic role models. We like to learn from others’ experiences as well as our own. But when we mimic others’ behavior or so-called success, it can come with some unsavory or unwanted elements. And let’s face it: it’s rare to find anyone who sustains real freedom, peace of mind, and balance in our society, and still functions effectively.
4. The media. I’m not going to rail on about “the media,” but much of the information put out there is neither factual nor entertaining; it’s just noise. Choose carefully the media you subject yourself to.
5. Pharmaceutical companies. No company is intrinsically evil, and pharmaceutical companies are no exception. But all the advertising dollars committed to getting Americans to pop one pill or another, is doing a dis-service to us all. It’s easy to find temporary freedom, peace of mind, and balance with a pill, but what price do you pay? The natural way is always best, but often requires real effort. You can choose to make that effort, or not.
Freedom, peace of mind, and balance are the birthright of every human. It requires effort to achieve and maintain these states of mind, but I can’t think of any goals more worthwhile.
Enjoy the ride!
