Peace
The elusive feeling of peace is hard to come by. Of course, they say that peace comes from within, but what does that really mean? And how can we find peace in a world that is changing so rapidly- on a moment to moment basis?
Here are some techniques to help find peace in this world:
- Slow down. While the world is seemingly moving at an ever quicker pace, it does not mean that we have to be caught up in that dynamic. Carve out some time each day to pause, meditate, or just do nothing. Allow your spirit to relax and take stock of what is happening around you. You will be surprised how doing this can change the quality of every day.
- Embrace the holographic theory of existence. There is an evolving consciousness that suggests that we all live in our own hologram, which is a three dimensional reality. Our reality in this hologram is entirely self-created by our mind, which is a pretty awe inspiring hypothesis. The theory also suggests that our concept of reality is entirely an illusion. This may be hard for some to accept- I know that it was for me. But increasingly over the last year it makes perfect sense. The beauty of this theory is that the illusion of our reality is not just malleable by our thoughts, giving us incredible power, but the very fact that it is an illusion gives us permission to take it so much less seriously. In a world where power and ego rules so much, embracing this theory saves so much wear and tear on our spirit, mind, and body. We also become much more responsible for everything that we say and do, knowing that it is going to create our reality. We are less likely to get depressed, or become “victims” too, because the source of our happiness is firmly under our jurisdiction.
- Look within. The desire and inclination to look within is related to (2) above, because if we embrace the holographic theory of existence, looking within for the cause of our peace of mind, or suffering, becomes natural. By looking within I do not mean blame, because blaming ourselves or others is a complete waste of energy. When you look within, be kind to yourself, and remember that you are a spiritual body temporarily housed in your current body. Nothing more and nothing less.
- Practice gratitude. This is perhaps one of the most important things you can do on a daily basis to promote peace. Everyone can have a bad day, or a bad experience during the day. The challenge is to not let that energy transfer over to those we come into contact with, since for the most part those people are blameless. Make the effort to treat those you encounter in the best possible way, since the law of karma will result in that energy boomeranging to you. Since karma rules the world (and I don’t say this lightly), you want the best possible energy coming back to you.
- Eliminate fear in your life. Admittedly this is the “big ticket item,’ because most of us operate from fear most of the time. But it really pays to be aware of the triggers for your fear, and when these events occur react in a different way. Every time you chip away at your triggers and react in a new and healthy way, you take a step toward peace.
- Recognize perfection. This is also a big leap forward when you make it-recognizing and accepting that everything and everyone is perfect exactly as it exists right now. This acceptance of perfection is probably as difficult as embracing the holographic theory of reality. It takes time to understand just how perfect the universe is right now- a difficult thing when you believe you need a person or thing in your life to make you happy. But think about it on a different scale and it makes sense: the force that causes the sun to rise every day, the plants to grow and open up, gravity to be maintained, is perfect, even if the limited scope of our minds cannot grasp the entirety of that perfection.
