PERCEPTION
It is becoming increasingly clear that perception is king, perception is everything. It is often said that one man’s palace could be another man’s prison. This is so true, especially today, when all of us are being bombarded by so many stories, so many images. Who has the right spin?
The answer could be as simple as this: everyone’s spin is right for them. Do you find this too easy? Relax and don’t despair, it just may be true!
Look at some of the events in the external world that are being played on any media platform right now: ISIS militants are beheading innocent journalists, right? Seems like a no-brainer for most of us to say that this is extreme, that this is pure evil, that this is a throwback to the Middle Ages, or some era before the Age of Enlightenment. But to the people doing the beheading, this act is perfectly normal. In fact, to these people, they may think that this act is sanctioned by God, no less!
The only thing to conclude by all this is that everyone, and I mean everyone, is playing the parts they are meant to play in life, perfectly. Not that I am condoning any of this, far from it. All I am saying is that the players are doing what they do, and doing it the best that they know how.
The same is true for all the people in our personal lives. If you have ever scratched your head in wonder as to why someone is repeating the same apparently self-destructive, or malicious behavior, you now know: they are playing their roles perfectly, and if you could just sit back and watch the show (instead of getting upset, morally indignant, or reacting badly), then you, my friend, have got life by the so-called b*lls.
Grab the popcorn and enjoy the show around you!
