Playing the Perfect Role
It was Shakespeare who supposedly said “All the world’s a stage, and all of us are just players,” or something like that.
It has never been more true today. Look at what passes for acceptable behavior today, and I’m not just talking about behavior by government leaders, either! And if you think that the antics of the American government are bizarre, or more closely resemble a dysfunctional soap opera family, look abroad: the same dislocation and strangeness can be found happening all over the world from Venezuela to Brazil to who knows where next?
It seems that this behavior issue is a worldwide phenomenon, something that reflects the psyche of the people of the world. The bets are on as to whether this represents the last hurrah of the old guard, or the painful emerging of a new world consciousness that will, when firmly entrenched, usher in a new golden age.
For those of us living through this transition, it can be daunting. I propose a way to have it make sense, borrowing from Shakespeare…haha. Let’s just look at all this activity as people playing their role to perfection. That’s right, everyone, including you and me, and all these “leaders’ are doing what they were meant to do, and doing it to perfection!!!
The benefits of adopting this point of view: no more hand wringing, no more shocks, just total acceptance. In fact, we can even now appreciate how well the roles are played, and can give them a metaphorical Oscar for their performances.
