Relaxed Awareness
This is not a time to fall asleep at the wheel or to rest on one’s laurels. Things are presented to you so fast and decisions must be made quicker than ever. To make the right choice, and in order to sift out all the assaults on your body and spirit each day, you have to practice Relaxed Awareness.
It is a state of mind that is not tense, has no anxiety, but is fully alert. It may seem contradictory, but it is definitely possible to assume this mental state. Just look at our canine friends for inspiration. If you have ever watched a dog’s behavior, you realize that it is constantly checking its environment for any threats ( and treats, too, of course), but the dog is ultimately relaxed. He responds so quickly to stimuli because he “never lets his guard down,” and is always aware.
You can learn a lot from this behavior, because there are huge benefits to being in touch with your immediate environment. So many opportunities pass people by because they are oblivious, distracted, or otherwise engaged.
In this time of constant connection to cellphones, it is easy to miss the best opportunities that are right before your eyes, because you were not watching. This is where Relaxed Awareness really shines. It challenges you to be present in the moment, to actually engage with and connect with the people in front of you, and in so doing you just might find the best person, or best financial venture of your life.
