The Law of Opposites
In these times when the media is bombarding us with so many negative images, it can be helpful to know about the Law of Opposites.
This is an energy principle that goes something like this: all things co-exist simultaneously: happiness/unhappiness, health/sickness/prosperity/recession-depression.
And the place where these things co-exist is in our consciousness.
It’s a tricky thing to really understand, because we often get so caught up in our own drama and extreme situations when they exist; we can forget that in a heartbeat the external situation can change, and it can change in an extreme fashion. It’s almost as if one way of looking at things dominates our thoughts and consciousness, and then in a flash the polar opposite feeling or experience manifests. If we find ourselves immersed in a particular situation that we do not like (such as dis-ease or a lack of anything), we can find some comfort in the knowledge that the polar opposite of this experience actually exists right now somewhere, but it is not obvious to our thought patterns and consciousness, so on a certain level it is not our reality.
So when do things actually manifest the way we want and out of the situation that is causing us such pain? That is the million dollar question, isn’t it? Each person and situation is different, but I can give you these observations: When I was just getting out of practicing law in the late great stock market “tech boom” of the late 1990’s, it seemed as though everyone(but me) was getting on the bandwagon. I would go to closings representing a buyer or seller and almost everyone was obsessed with the stock market and its seemingly limitless upward trajectory. The other attorney, title closers, appraisers all were on their cell phones buying and selling stocks! I even had one appraiser come to a building I was refinancing, and exclaim to me,” Bob, you are really stupid for buying real estate when the stock market is so good.” It is fair to say that the “common consciousness” at that time was tech is amazing, and it will last forever. Buying tech stocks was seen by almost everyone as a sure bet to quick fortune, so much so that in 1998 even the garage attendant where I keep my car asked me for stock advice! When that happened, I said to myself: This tech boom is about to bust, and sure enough in the next several months it crashed down. Let’s fast forward to RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW IN 2009. The “common consciousness” seems convinced that the financial world is coming to an end, and the stock market has reacted in fear accordingly: sending the price of stocks so far down that the prices are almost laughable. If the past is any guide at all, this tells me that things have already turned upward- and what confirms it to me is that almost everyone thinks the opposite.
I don’t know about any of you out there, but I intend to make 2009 the best year ever for me on every level: personally, health, peace of mind, and of course financially too.
What’s your choice for NOW?

I couldn’t agree with you more-and if you ask me fear is driving this market now.
Fear is driving lots of things these days.
