THE SCRAMBLE TO CONTROL
The American Presidential election is over, and the full effects of this have yet to be seen. But what we have seen in the campaign, and around the world too, is something very clear: the scramble to control.
Look around at the world today and what do you see? Many divergent forces swirling around in what seems like utter chaos. But is that the true picture? And how should we react to this seeming randomness?
It also seems fairly certain that fear is a great vehicle to use if you are running for elective office; and today, you have your pick of so many juicy items to use. You could see a vast conspiracy by the “evil corporate and banking forces” that supposedly caused the great 2008 recession, you could cry out about “income inequality,” you could see a “rigged election by the liberal media elite” ( but you should drop that rallying cry rapido if you actually win, haha) , you could even blame your inability to pay your bills or find an ideal job on “those illegal immigrants.” Take your pick.
No matter what your preference, there is one common denominator in all these beliefs, besides the obvious one that the holder of any of these beliefs is absolutely sure that they are right, and that is this: all these positions, all these beliefs, are designed to control our thoughts, our minds, and our actions. Once again, forces are out there, and those forces are all about CONTROL.
If you have studied history at all, you will realize that this is nothing new: people have died millions of times over to defend beliefs that they were so sure were right; the sad part being that the vast majority of what anyone thinks is imposed from outside, and by forces that have one goal in mind, and one goal only: TO CONTROL YOUR LIFE.
